Reiko NakataArea of Expertise:Trends in overseas education
Project researcher at the Center for Early Childhood Development, Education, and Policy Research (Cedep) of the Graduate School of Education, the University of Tokyo, and researcher at Shinshu University Center of the National Institute for School Teachers and Staff Development (NITS). Specializes in Norwegian (and Nordic) education, teacher education, early childhood education and care, and comparative education.
Work Experience
After graduating from graduate school, worked at Benesse Educational Research and Development Institute for ten years, during which time she engaged in research on various trends in overseas education. Major research themes included international student assessment, university entrance examination systems, generic skills, early childhood education, and child science.
Education and Background
Completed coursework in doctoral program at the Graduate School of Education, the University of Tokyo.
Developed an interest in the differences in education among Japan and other countries from her experience of living in Germany during her childhood and in Norway during her high school years, which led her to pursue her studies in the field of education in graduate school.
Enjoys studying languages, and has proficiency in English, German and Norwegian, as well as elementary proficiency in Swedish and Korean. Is currently interested in sign language.
Born in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, in 1980.
